Remembering Crackernight – Author Justin Sheedy In-Store Book-Signing of “Goodbye Crackernight”, Dymocks Sydney, Sat 27 June 2015
Remember Crackernight? Sydney Author Justin Sheedy sure does and has captured the era of this magical & much-missed fireworks festival in his childhood portrait of 1970s Australia, Goodbye Crackernight.
CRACKERNIGHT! One night a year, the infinite normality of the suburbs is shot with utter magic. Goodbye Crackernight is a story of fireworks, of fun that cost nothing, of second-hand bikes, UFO-crowded skies, streakers, lime green Valiants, half-sucked Sunny Boys and electric pink hotpants. It is a story of growing up and innocence left behind. It is the tale of an era, of far simpler times, of an annual neighbourhood festival and an Australia now long gone.
On Saturday 27 June from 10am, Sheedy will be signing copies of Goodbye Crackernight in-store at Australia’s premier bookstore, Dymocks George Street Sydney, also copies of the much-anticipated sequel, Memoirs of a Go-Go Dancer, his teenage portrait of 1980s Australia, fashion crimes included. Sheedy looks forward to sharing his passion for OUR great Australian story with Dymocks booklovers.
