Justin Sheedy on the Program of Byron Bay Writers’ Festival 2010
Well, friends, I’m privileged (and a little stunned) to be able to announce that I’ve been picked to be on the official program of this year’s Byron Bay Writers’ Festival this coming August. I suppose this officially makes me a Writer. (Funny, but when I got up this morning, I didn’t feel any different…) At least, a writer in the same festival as Important Writers. But seriously, I’m honoured to be so. I’m also what is known in medical terms as Stoked.
So this means that, somewhere between Friday August 6 and Sunday August 8, I’ll be talking about my first book, Goodbye Crackernight, under the hallowed marquees of the Festival at the Belongil Fields at Byron Bay. That is, unless, say, Thomas Keneally ambles past and I start to dribble and whatever I’m saying about my book becomes a sequence of loud, incoherent sounds.
My massive gratitude goes to Festival Director, Jeni Caffin, for her (completely unexpected) support: In a nutshell, for seeing Goodbye Crackernight as something worthy of inclusion in this important event in the Australian Literary Calendar. (I’m still pinching myself. In fact, it’s starting to really hurt…)
As soon as more details come through, I’ll post them here at Crackernight.com. In the meantime, do check out the official website for The Byron Bay Writers’ Festival, also their Facebook page.
