Good point there, Livvy. I tend to agree with you, particularly re Cover 2. (My own handywork, I’m afraid…) The final cover, though, after Noble Attempts 4 & 5, was arrived at by me and the typesetter on grounds of pure pick-up-in-the-bookstore-clarity: The reality is that most people in bookstores will not see the front cover first but the spine of the book, along with a hundred other spines on a shelf all sandwiched together. And the title type-face on that 1cm thick spine has to be clearly and instantly readable to the browsing bookstore shopper. Hence, we settled on the more traditional type-face of the the final cover.
I am happy with the final cover though. In fact, I’ve been mightily relieved by the instant reaction of people with the ‘Galley’ (test) printing of the book in their hands for the first time. (Christ, I sound like a new father…) Nice to see people’s eyes light up though. Cause they have. I take this as yet another piece of evidence, (along with the existence of Australian Chardonnays, Kafalograviera Greek Cheese and my wife’s smiling eyes), that God does indeed exist and wants me to be Happy.
I’m actually writing a few fiction books and a non-fiction about my life (which I don’t know if I will ever submit for publishing, but it’s an interesting project).
One’s about 2 friends who get caught up in a war unexpectedly, one’s about a troupe of circus performers, one’s about a girl who’s step father murdered her younger brother, one’s about a girl who accidently killed a couple hundred people (it’s complicated).
Re the availability of “Goodbye, Crackernight”, the initial run will be printed in August, to be launched in September, exact dates to be settled as yet. This first print-run shouldn’t be available in US bookstores (as far as we’re aware at the moment), but will certainly be available for purchase online at sites like Amazon.com, Booktopia.com, and through the publishers here in Australia, sidharta.com.au
Was just browsing the site for little fixes and I revisited your comment above. In case you haven’t been back here in a little while, the availability date is now set for September 1st. Since you’re in the U.S., best orderable through the Sid Harta Publishing site. That directs you to the Distributor, where you enter Goodbye Crackernight (without comma) into their search field.
I like the 2nd and 3rd ones. They seem to match the concept of the cover the most.

Here’s hoping.

“Christ, I sound like a new father…”
I’m currently writing a book, so I completely understand
Hey, (dammit), what book ARE you writing?
I’m actually writing a few fiction books and a non-fiction about my life (which I don’t know if I will ever submit for publishing, but it’s an interesting project).
When do I get to read yours? Is it being published in the US?
Excellent, and best of luck. What are your fictions about?

I’ll have to keep my eyes open for it then.
Oh, Livvy, hope all good with you.

Once again, hope all well in your world.
Wonderful, thanks for letting me know!
